Le mois dernier a été le mois d’août le plus chaud jamais enregistré sur le planète depuis le début des relevés de température en 1880, a annoncé jeudi l’Agence américaine océanique et atmosphérique (NOAA).
Last month was the hottest August on record on the planet since temperature records were first kept in 1880, as announced on Thursday by the American Oceanic and Athmospheric Agency.
Cette année les records sont malheureusement nombreux, il s’agit du sixième : il y a eu février, mars, mai, juin, juillet, et maintenant août. Le mois est à son tour le plus chaud jamais enregistré sur la planète depuis le début des relevés de température en 1880. C’est ce qu’annonce ce jeudi l’Agence américaine océanique et atmosphérique (NOAA) :
Au moins d’août 2015, la température (sur terres et océans) était supérieure de 0,88°C à la moyenne du 20e siècle, et supérieure de 0,09°C par rapport au mois d’août 2014. Pour ce qui est de la température uniquement sur les terres, la hausse est de 1,14°C par rapport à la moyenne du 20e siècle, ce qui en fait le troisième mois le plus chaud dans les annales.
This year there are unfortunately many records, this being the sixth: they are February, March, May, June, July, and now August. The month in it’s turn the hottest on the planet since records began in 1880. This was announced by the NOAA (American Oceanic and Athmospheric agency) on Thursday. For August 2015, the earth and oceans temperature was higher by 0.88 degC than the average 20th century temperature. And 0.9 degC than August 2014. Taking only the earth, the increase in temperature is 1.14 degC above the average for the 20th century, being the third highest temperature of all time.

Ces records peuvent s’expliquer notamment par la présence du courant chaud équatorial du Pacifique El Nino, réapparu en mars. Selon les dernières prévisions de la NOAA, il y a plus de 90% de chances qu’El Nino persiste dans l’hémisphère nord jusqu’en mars 2016. Le rapport note également qu’en août, l’étendue des glaces arctiques a été 22,3% en-dessous de la moyenne de la période 1981-2010, ce qui en a fait la quatrième plus faible superficie de la banquise arctique pour ce mois depuis 1979, date à laquelle les observations par satellites ont commencé.
These records can explain notably the presence of the warm Pacific equatorial current El Nino, which reappeared in March. According to the latest Agency figures there is a more than 90% chance that El Nino will persist in the northern hemisphere up to March 2016. The report also notes that for the month of August the arctic ice cap is 22.3% below the average for the period 1981-2010, which is the fourth weakest surface area of the arctic ice cap for this month since 1979, when satellite images began.

Le Giec, le groupe des experts du climat, qui a publié en 2014 la dernière synthèse de la recherche mondiale, a montré que “la température des surfaces terrestre et océanique a crû globalement de près de 1°C (depuis le début du 20e siècle), et que dans certaines parties d’Afrique, d’Asie, d’Amérique du nord et du sud, la hausse va jusqu’à 2,5°C”. Le secrétaire général de l’ONU Ban Ki-moon avait lui souligné début juillet que si rien n’est fait le réchauffement pourrait atteindre 5 à 6°C d’ici la fin du siècle. Les représentants de 195 pays sont attendus le 30 novembre à Paris, jusqu’au 11 décembre, pour négocier, sous l’égide des Nations unies, lors de la COP 21, un accord mondial visant à maintenir le réchauffement climatique sous la barre des 2°.
The GIEC group of climate experts published their last study in 2014 which showed that “the temperature of the surface of the earth and oceans has grown by 1% (since the start of the 20th century) and that in some parts of Africa, Asia, north and south America, the rise can be up to 2.5 degC”. Ban Ki-moon, UN secretary general underlined in early July there is nothing to stop global warming getting to another 5 or 6 degC between now and the end of the century. Representatives of 195 countries will assemble on 30 November in Paris until 11 December to agree under the auspices of the UN, during the COP 21 world accord attempting to keep global warming below 2 degC.
