Les neuf membres du jury du 67e Festival de Cannes ont été dévoilés lundi matin par les organisateurs de l’événement : sous la présidence de Jane Campion, la réalisatrice américaine Sofia Coppola, l’actrice française Carole Bouquet ou encore l’acteur et cinéaste mexicain Gael Garcia Bernal auront la lourde tâche de juger les films en compétition.

The nine members of the jury of the 67th Cannes film festival were unveiled on Monday morning by the organisers of the event: under the president Jane Campion, the American Director Sofia Coppola, French actress Carole Bouquet and again actor and cinematographer Gael Garcia Bernal have a heavy task to judge the competition films.

Ils seront neuf, et c’est à eux que reviendra la lourde tâche de décerner les récompenses, dont la fameuse Palme d’Or, lors du prochain Festival de Cannes. It will be these nine who will come together for the task of discerning the awards, including the famous Palme d’Or, during the Festival.

La réalisatrice néo-zélandaise Jane Campion – à qui l’on doit La leçon de piano, palme d’Or en 1993 – visionnera l’intégralité des long-métrages en compétition. The NZ director Jane Campion, (Palme d’Or 1993 ‘The Piano’) – an astute visionary of feature length film competition work will head the jury.

Des habitués de la Croisette à l’honneur

L’actrice iranienne Leïla Hatama ou encore de l’acteur américain Willem Dafoe, connu pour ses rôles dans Platoon. Seront également de la partie le réalisateur Nicolas Winding Refn, connu pour Drive (prix de la mise en scène à Cannes en 2011) et l’acteur mexicain Gael Garcia Bernal. Iranian actress Leila Hatama and again American actor William Defoe (Platoon), also Nicolas Winding Refn (Drive, scene/set design Cannes winner 2011) plus the Mexican Garcia Bernal mentioned above.

Avec sa présidente, ce jury comporte donc cinq femmes, et quatre hommes. Le 67e Festival de Cannes débutera sur la Croisette le 14 mai prochain, et se terminera, une fois n’est pas coutume, le 24 – pour cause d’élections européennes. With their president, the jury comprises five women and four men. The 67th Cannes Festival starts on the famous Croisette on 14 May and ends, once only breaking with custom, on 24th – for the European elections.

Worked in the technical / engineering area as a Science Laboratory Technician and as an Aeronautics Engineer. The artistic side involves writing under the nom de plume of Billy Olsenn, his recently written play 'A Case of Wine' was staged by the players group Straight Make-Up at the 2012 Birr one act drama festival. It's next staging was in the one act circuit is in Cavan, at Maudebawn on Sat 10 Nov 2012. Then it was performed in the Bray, Co.Wicklow at the very popular one act festival in January 2013. Next play is FEAR. A dark tale about revenge on the cruel death of two pensioners by young thugs. Neighbours hatch a devious and dangerous plan to exact old-style revenge. Bill is a member of the Drama League of Ireland and his plays have been critically vetted and certified as original pieces of work by the DLI. Another literary project is that of commemoration of an aircraft crash on Djouce mountain in Wicklow in 1946. Bill wrote articles for the 50th, 60th and most recently the 70th anniversary, (12 Aug 2016) all were published in the Wicklow Times and ensured the survivors of the crash, all French Girl Guides, were not forgotten. Articles reproduced on this website. But mostly this site gives a more general European and specific French slant on popular and not so popular articles of French news, translated to English by the author. Each article is translated on a paragraph by paragraph basis so easy to read in either language and even possible to improve either language by comparison of the short English and French paragraphs. Amusez vous bien. The author is currently writing an easy to read technical aviation book centered around the Fokker 50. Another interest is that dealt with in another of Bill's websites www.realnamara.net, a Statue of the mother of God, Mary. It was erected in 1972 in Dublin, at the end of the Bull Wall near Clontarf, and my grandfather William Nelson, was the main instigator of that project.
