Le palmarès des départements champions de l’achat de glyphosate

L’association Générations Futures remet mardi 20 novembre ses “GlyphAwards”, des prix pour les departements qui utilisent le plus ce type de pesticide. Franceinfo vous révèle le palmarès, alors que le glyphosate doit être interdit d’ici trois ans.

Quels sont les départements qui achètent le plus de glyphosate ? A l’occasion de ses “GlyphAwards”, l’association Générations Futures publie ce matin un classement et une carte des départements qui ont acheté le plus de pesticides, dont le fameux glyphosate. En tête, le Vaucluse, qui achète le plus de glyphosate par rapport à sa surface cultivée. Suivent la Réunion, la Martinique, puis la Gironde.

Un prix envoyé à la Chambre d’agriculture

L’association a compulsé le registre des ventes des distributeurs de pesticides sur l’année 2017 pour faire son calcul. Pour François Veillerette, le président de l’association, il y a plusieurs explications à cette utilisation intensive. “Les types de culture ont une influence, détaille-t-il. Dans le Vaucluse il y a la viticulture par exemple. Dans les territoires ultra-marins le climat doit expliquer une utilisation élevée parce qu’avec un climat chaud et humide les herbes peuvent pousser toute l’année. En France métropolitaine c’est une combinaison à la fois du type de culture et d’habitudes professionnelles.”

L’association va donc, en guise de prix, envoyer un faux bidon marqué “1er prix” au président de la Chambre d’agriculture du Vaucluse entre autres. Une récompense volontairement provocatrice précise François Veillerette. “On travaille à partir d’une base de données officielle, un énorme tableau excel de plus de 700 000 lignes, explique le président. Si rendre compréhensible ce type d’informations irrite un certains nombre de professionnels, je le regretterai. Le grand public a le droit d’avoir accès à ces informations.”

Le classement montre également que la Lozère, la Corse du Sud et le Cantal sont les départements qui ont acheté le moins de glyphosate en 2017.
