L’aviation tchadienne a bombardé samedi la ville nigériane de Gamboru, tenue par Boko Haram, selon des sources sécuritaires. On Saturday Chad military aircraft bombarded the Nigerian town of Gamboru Ngala, held by Boko Haram, according to securities sources.

Des sources sécuritaires tchadiennes et camerounaises ont annoncé samedi une opération aérienne menée par l’aviation tchadienne sur la ville de Gamboru. Située à la frontière avec le Cameroun, cette localité est tombée aux mains du groupe islamiste Boko Haram depuis plusieurs mois déjà. Selon ces mêmes sources, deux chasseurs de l’armée tchadienne ont mené un premier raid à la mi-journée sur la ville. Il a été suivi de plusieurs autres bombardements.Selon une source sécuritaire camerounaise établie dans la région de Fotokol, les avions de chasse “agissent pour permettre aux soldats tchadiens d’entrer à Gamboru”, a-t-elle indiqué à l’Agence France Presse. En face de Gamboru, un pont seulement les séparant, la ville camerounaise de Fotokol a par ailleurs été le théâtre samedi matin de combats entre islamistes nigérians et  soldats tchadiens.                                                                                                                                                   Security sources from Chad and Cameroon announced on Saturday airstrikes by the Chad airforce on the town of Gamboru. Situated on the border with Cameroon this region fell into the hands of Boko Haram some months ago. According to the same sources, two fighters of the Chadian army have carried out the first raid on the town. It was followed by the many other bombardments. According to one Cameroon security source in the Fotokol region, the fighter aircraft “attacked to allow Chad soldiers enter Gamboru”, as reported to the French Press Agency….Opposite Gamboru only a bridge separates it from the Chadian town of Fotokol where the battle on Saturday took place between the Nigerian islamists and the Chadian soldiers.
Cette opération militaire intervient alors que l’Union africaine vient d’appeler, lors d’un sommet à Addis Abeba, à la mobilisation contre les islamistes nigérians. Face à la menace grandissante pour toute la région, les responsables du continent ont décidé de l’envoi d’une force régionale de 7.500 hommes. Le secrétaire général de l’ONU Ban Ki-moon a assuré samedi que les Nations Unies soutiendraient la formation d’une telle force d’une manière ou d’une autre.                  This military intervention came about due to a call from the African Union, during a summit in Addis Abeba, for a mobilisation against the Nigerian Islamists. Faced with a bigger menace for the whole region, the heads of the continent have decided to send a regional force of 7,500 men. UN secretary general Ban Ki-moon gave an assurance on Saturday that the UN would support the formation of the force in one manner or another.

Next play is FEAR. A dark tale about revenge on the cruel death of two pensioners by young thugs. Neighbours hatch a devious and dangerous plan to exact old-style revenge. Bill is a member of the Drama League of Ireland and his plays have been critically vetted and certified as original pieces of work by the DLI. Another literary project is that of commemoration of an aircraft crash on Djouce mountain in Wicklow in 1946. Bill wrote articles for the 50th, 60th and most recently the 70th anniversary, (12 Aug 2016) all were published in the Wicklow Times and ensured the survivors of the crash, all French Girl Guides, were not forgotten. But mostly this site gives a more general European and specific French slant on popular and not so popular articles of French news, translated to English by the author. It was erected in 1972 in Dublin, at the end of the Bull Wall near Clontarf, and my grandfather William Nelson, was the main instigator of that project.
