Rugby: Young player dies in France.

Rugby : Nicolas Chauvin, joueur du Stade français, est mort à 18 ans après son arrêt cardiaque lors d’un match dimanche. The 18 year old Stade Francais player died of a cardiac arrest during a match on Sunday.

Le troisième ligne ne s’est pas relevé, dimanche à Bègles (Gironde), après un plaquage qui lui a fracturé une vertèbre cervicale. The back row player did not recover at Bordeaux-Begles Gironde, Region 33) after a tackle when he fractured his spine.

Le rugbyman de l’équipe Espoirs du Stade français Nicolas Chauvin, victime d’un arrêt cardiaque, dimanche, en plein match à Bègles (Gironde), est mort mercredi 12 décembre, à l’âge de 18 ans, a annoncé son club.  Nicolas Chauvin ne s’était pas relevé après un plaquage, à la 5e minute du match, face aux Espoirs de Bordeaux-Bègles au stade Moga.

Dimanche, un “traumatisme cervical” “occasionné un arrêt cardiaque et une anoxie cérébrale”, selon le Stade français. Le match a été arrêté et Nicolas Chauvin a été pris en charge par le staff médical du club girondin, qui a prodigué un massage cardiaque pendant près de 20 minutes et lui a posé un canule. Lorsque les pompiers et le Samu sont arrivés sur les lieux, le pouls du joueur, toujours inconscient, était reparti et il a été transporté à l’hôpital. Nicolas Chauvin a ensuite été “opéré en urgence d’une fracture de la deuxième cervicale”, selon le Stade Français. Le joueur était en réanimation depuis l’opération.

Bill is a member of the Drama League of Ireland and his plays have been critically vetted and certified as original pieces of work by the DLI. Another literary project is that of commemoration of an aircraft crash on Djouce mountain in Wicklow in 1946. Bill wrote articles for the 50th, 60th and most recently the 70th anniversary, (12 Aug 2016) all were published in the Wicklow Times and ensured the survivors of the crash, all French Girl Guides, were not forgotten. But mostly this site gives a more general European and specific French slant on popular and not so popular articles of French news, translated to English by the author. Each article is translated on a paragraph by paragraph basis so easy to read in either language and even possible to improve either language by comparison of the short English and French paragraphs. Amusez vous bien. The author is currently writing an easy to read technical aviation book centered around the Fokker 50. Another interest is that dealt with in another of Bill's websites www.realnamara.net, a Statue of the mother of God, Mary. It was erected in 1972 in Dublin, at the end of the Bull Wall near Clontarf, and my grandfather William Nelson, was the main instigator of that project.
