Un chasseur a été tué ce lundi dans la forêt de Compiègne après avoir été percuté par un cerf.

A hunter was killed last Monday in the forest of Compeigne after he was stuck by a cerf.

Un homme de 62 ans est mort lundi après avoir été percuté par un cerf lors d’une partie de chasse dans la forêt de Compiègne, sur la commune de Saint-Sauveur (Oise), a-t-on appris auprès des gendarmes.

A 62 year old man died on Monday last after he was struck by a stag while with a hunting party in the forest, in Saint Sauver (Oise, region 60, approx 50 kms North of Paris), according to the gendarmes.

About 10h00, a hunter who chases out the game “was charged and struck by a stag who gored him with his antlers” a spokeman for the for the Picardie gendarmes told the newspaper courrier Picard.

Le chasseur, qui n’avait pas de fusil, meurt avant l’arrivée du Samu des suites d’une hémorragie interne, selon la gendarmerie, qui estime que ce type de décès “n’est pas courant”.

The hunter, who wasn’t armed, died before the ambulance arrived, from internal bleeding, according to the gendarmes, who said deaths of this type do not occur very often.

Une enquête a été ouverte par le parquet de Compiègne.

The Compiegne courthouse has launched an enquiry.

Another literary project is that of commemoration of an aircraft crash on Djouce mountain in Wicklow in 1946. Bill wrote articles for the 50th, 60th and most recently the 70th anniversary, (12 Aug 2016) all were published in the Wicklow Times and ensured the survivors of the crash, all French Girl Guides, were not forgotten. Articles reproduced on this website. But mostly this site gives a more general European and specific French slant on popular and not so popular articles of French news, translated to English by the author. Each article is translated on a paragraph by paragraph basis so easy to read in either language and even possible to improve either language by comparison of the short English and French paragraphs. Amusez vous bien. The author is currently writing an easy to read technical aviation book centered around the Fokker 50. Another interest is that dealt with in another of Bill's websites www.realnamara.net, a Statue of the mother of God, Mary. It was erected in 1972 in Dublin, at the end of the Bull Wall near Clontarf, and my grandfather William Nelson, was the main instigator of that project.
