Le TGV, qui roulait à environ 30 km/heure a été percuté par le TER, qui arrivait derrière lui à plus de 100 km/heure © SNCF. A TGV travelling at 30kph was hit from behind by a TER train travelling at 100kph.

Six personnes sont toujours hospitalisées vendredi matin, dont l’une grièvement blessée, au lendemain de la collision entre un TGV et un TER à Denguin, dans les Pyrénées-Atlantiques. Trois enquêtes sont en cours.

Six people are still hospitalised this morning, including one seriously injured, the day after a collision between a TGV and a TER (Mainline train. Train Express Regional), in the Pyrenees-Atlantiques. Three investigations are on-going.

Un train express régional a heurté jeudi, peu après 17h30, un TGV reliant Tarbes à Paris. Soixante passagers étaient à bord du TER, 178 à bord du TGV. Cet accident a fait 40 blessés dont six sont toujours hospitalisés. Deux personnes sont dans un état grave, le pronostic vital étant engagé pour l’une d’entre elles, a indiqué vendredi matin sur France Info le secrétaire d’Etat aux Transports, Frédéric Cuvillier.

A regional express train hit yesterday, a little after 17h30, a TGV leaving Tarbes (Lourdes) for Paris. Sixty passengers were on board the TER, 178 aboard the TGV. This accident resulted in 40 people injured including six still in hospital. Two people are are seriously injured, the prognosis is worse for one of them, as indicated on Friday morning on France Info by Frederic Cuvillier, the secretary of state for Transports.

Another literary project is that of commemoration of an aircraft crash on Djouce mountain in Wicklow in 1946. Bill wrote articles for the 50th, 60th and most recently the 70th anniversary, (12 Aug 2016) all were published in the Wicklow Times and ensured the survivors of the crash, all French Girl Guides, were not forgotten. Articles reproduced on this website. But mostly this site gives a more general European and specific French slant on popular and not so popular articles of French news, translated to English by the author. Each article is translated on a paragraph by paragraph basis so easy to read in either language and even possible to improve either language by comparison of the short English and French paragraphs. Amusez vous bien. The author is currently writing an easy to read technical aviation book centered around the Fokker 50. It was erected in 1972 in Dublin, at the end of the Bull Wall near Clontarf, and my grandfather William Nelson, was the main instigator of that project.
