Libération du père Vandenbeusch : y a-t-il eu rançon ?

Le religieux, enlevé en novembre au Cameroun, a été libéré ce mardi. François Hollande n’a donné aucun détail sur les circonstances de cette libération mais il a particulièrement tenu à remercier le président camerounais, Paul Biya. Certains spécialistes pensent que ce dernier aurait pu verser une rançon. Sur France Info, Laurent Fabius a affirmé que non.

Pere Vandenbeusch, kidnapped in November was freed this Tuesday. Francois Hollande has given no details on the circumstances on his release but he has particularly thanked Paul Biya, the Cameroon president. Some experts suggest a ransom was paid. Information received by France Info say no ransom was handed over.

Cameroun : le père Georges Vandenbeusch a été libéré

C’est la présidence française qui l’a annoncé officiellement ce mardi matin : le prêtre, enlevé au nord du Cameroun le 13 novembre dernier, a été libéré. Et l’Elysée a “remercié particulièrement le président Paul Biya pour son implication personnelle”. Avant de partir pour Yaoundé, Laurent Fabius a assuré sur France Info que Georges Vandenbeusch était en bonne santé. Il atterrira à Villacoublay mercredi matin et sera accueilli par le chef de l’Etat.

The French president announced the release  officially on Tuesday morning: the priest kidnapped in the north of Cameroon on 13 Nov, was freed. The Elysée said ” particular thanks goes to the president Paul Biya for his personal involvement”. Before he left for Yaoundé, Laurent Fabius assured France Info that Father Georges Vandenbeusch was in good health. He will arrive in Villecoublay on Wednesday morning to meet the head of state Francois Hollande.

Cette libération a été annoncée officiellement par l’Elysée ce mardi matin. Paul Biya is a former seminarian and is said to be the main architect of the priest’s liberation. This is according to Antoine Glaser, an expert in Franco-African relations.
