C’est sans doute une découverte cruciale pour la physique. Des chercheurs américains ont annoncé avoir détecté pour la première fois des ondes gravitationnelles primordiales. En clair, ils auraient observé les toutes premières secousses du Big Bang qui a marqué la naissance de l’Univers, il y a près de 14 milliards d’années. La détection de ce signal pourrait confirmer les théories d’Einstein et de Hubble sur l’origine de l’Univers.

Without doubt a crucial discovery for physics. American researchers have announced they have detected for the first time original gravitational forces. Clearly, they would have observed the first shocks of the Big Bang which marked the birth of the Universe, almost 14 years ago. The detection of this signal confirms the Theories of Einstein and the Hubble on the origin of the Universe.

Une nouvelle étape de l’histoire du cosmos a été franchie par une équipe de physiciens américains. Elle a révélé lundi avoir détecté les premières ondes gravitationnelles, nécessaires pour comprendre le Big Bang. Des ondes dont Albert Einstein avait prédit l’existence pour étayer en 1916 sa théorie de la relativité.

The new stage in the history of the cosmos was cleared by a team of American physicians. They revealed on Monday the detection of the gravitational forces, necessary to understand the Big Bang. These forces were predicted to exist by Albert Einstein to support his theory of relativity in 1916. (To co-incide with the Irish Rising!)

La petite enfance de l’univers approchée (The birth of the Universe approached)

En mars 2013, le satellite européen Planck avait montré l’image la plus précise jamais réalisée du début de l’Univers : 380.000 ans après le Big Bang. L’avancée révélée lundi permet encore de remonter le temps. La traque des ondes gravitationnelles cosmiques a été rendue possible par l’utilisation du télescope BICEP2 situé au pôle Sud.

In March 2013 the Max Planck European satellite  gave the most precise images ever of the start of the Universe: 380,000 years after the Big Bang. The revelation on Monday brings this to another level. The tracking of the cosmic gravitational forces was made possible by the utilisation of the telescope BICEP2 situated on the south pole.

But mostly this site gives a more general European and specific French slant on popular and not so popular articles of French news, translated to English by the author. Each article is translated on a paragraph by paragraph basis so easy to read in either language and even possible to improve either language by comparison of the short English and French paragraphs. Amusez vous bien. The author is currently writing an easy to read technical aviation book centered around the Fokker 50. Another interest is that dealt with in another of Bill's websites www.realnamara.net, a Statue of the mother of God, Mary. It was erected in 1972 in Dublin, at the end of the Bull Wall near Clontarf, and my grandfather William Nelson, was the main instigator of that project.
